Michael Canning has a simple belief in creating ideas that add some value in people's lives. 

A native of Sydney Australia, his career has taken him to London, New York and most recently Los Angeles to join the creative leadership at 72andSunny.  

Over the past decade Michael has been recognized as a new breed of creative leader for his entrepreneurial approach to building brands. He has presented as a keynote speaker at the Cannes Lions, Dubai LYNX and Young Lions Festivals and judged international awards including the Cannes Lions Titanium / Integrated and Film Jury, Clio Awards, Facebook Studio Awards, Dubai Lynx Festival, Cannes Young Marketers and the LIA Awards.

His work has been awarded with over 40 Cannes Lions including 2 Cannes Grand Prix (Unilever 'Lynx Jet' and Canon 'Photochains'), 2 Cannes 'Agency of the Year' titles, Clio Hall of Fame 2014 for Earth Hour 'Monuments', Best of Show at One Show Entertainment for 'New York Writes Itself', Young Gun of the Decade, Young Gun of the Year, D&AD yellow pencils, One Show Gold, Andy's Gold, Clio Gold and MTV Music video award nominations. Michael's work has also been featured in the New York Times, Forbes, Bloomberg Business, Mashable, TechCrunch, Sydney Morning Herald front cover, Fast Co-Create, CNN and USA Today. Outside of creativity Michael's favorite topics are travel, film and design.

 ABOUT

Michael Canning is an internationally awarded creative director, writer and publishing editor. From Sydney, Australia, his career began when he won a scholarship to Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London. He has lived and worked in Sydney, London, New York and Los Angeles in various roles including Executive Creative Director of brands and creative agencies. 

Thanks to great collaborators his work has made headlines in the New York Times, Fast Company, Forbes, Vogue, CNN and the United Nations, and been awarded with two Cannes Lions Grand Prix and the One Show Entertainment Best of Show. As an editor Michael has interviewed inspiring creative figures including Alma Har’el, John C Jay, Paola Antonelli and Christoph Niemann to name a few. 

He is also a contributor in the creative industry and has presented as a speaker at the Cannes Lions Festival, mentored students at Sydney University, judged creative awards including Cannes Lions Titanium + Integrated and contributed to the New York Times, Huffpost, AdAge Creativity, Semi Permanent and Fast Company.
